OPENING WORDS OF THE DIRECTOR
Dear visitors,
Welcome to the Internet presentation of the School for Music talents.
Let us present ourselves:
By its curriculum, the School for Music Talents at Ćuprija is a unique institution in our country. Its goal is to educate musically gifted children who enroll at this School, so that they become professional musicians, with the assistance of dedicated teachers who work at this School. During ten years of education in this School, the members of this “big music family” live within the School premises, since it is a boarding school, and follow an intensive program of music and general education.
Only two other schools in the world apply a similar concept: Central Music School in Moscow and School “Yehudi Menuhin” in London.
At the moment, 80 pupils from different cities in Serbia attend the school. We have pupils even from Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is actually our goal to expand to the countries in the region and thus return to the original idea of its creators, professors Lazar Marjanović and Jovan Rakić, who founded the school for the entire territory of former Yugoslavia.
The school is entirely focused on string instruments and one can learn to play violin, viola, cello and double bass. The School has been founded 45 years ago and it is connected with the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade by professional cooperation. It is known by its results and renowned alumni, and more than 200 young musicians coming from this School have continued their education at universities in the country and abroad.
Besides its educational role, the School has a very rich concert activity throughout our country and abroad.
The pupils of the School participate at both national and international competitions where they are highly ranked and obtain high prizes.
The School for Music Talents has the status of the School of Special National Importance.
